Help with Encrypt My Data, from your first vault to backups and everyday use.

hello@encryptmydata.net

Tell us your app version, iPhone model, iOS version and what you were trying to do. If you include a screenshot, remove private information first. Never send your master password, PIN, saved passwords or a vault backup.

Getting started

  1. Open the app and choose to create a vault, or restore an existing encrypted backup.
  2. Choose a master password of at least 12 characters. Keep it somewhere safe.
  3. Decide whether the encrypted vault can be included in your normal iPhone backup.
  4. Use the add button to save a website login, note, image or item with custom fields.

The app requires iPhone with iOS 26 or later. It supports English and Norwegian Bokmål.

Forgotten master password

We cannot reset or recover it. There is no online account, recovery email or publisher-held decryption key. Face ID or an optional PIN is a convenience feature, not a replacement for retaining your master password. A backup requires the password associated with that backup.

If quick unlock still works, keep the device and app intact while you work out what information you can preserve. Do not uninstall the app or reset the device as a troubleshooting step. Creating a new empty vault does not recover the old one.

Back up before changing devices

In Settings, open the backup and restore controls and export an encrypted backup. Keep it somewhere you trust and make sure you remember the master password used at export. Changing your master password does not change older backup files.

To restore, choose the backup file and enter its master password. Keep your original device and an extra copy of the backup until you have checked the restored contents. Allowing Apple device backups and exporting a manual backup are separate choices. Neither is live synchronization.

A file will not import

Check that the file is a supported Encrypt My Data backup or share file, and that you have the correct password. Encrypted share files and full-vault backups use different import flows. An incomplete, damaged or oversized file may be rejected. Ask the sender for a fresh export rather than trying to bypass the validation.

Face ID or Password AutoFill

Check that biometrics are available on the device. Your master password remains the way to unlock the vault when a convenience method is unavailable.

For optional AutoFill, unlock the main vault, open Password AutoFill in Settings, and follow the enablement instructions. Also select Encrypt My Data in iPhone's AutoFill settings. Refresh the encrypted copy from the app if prompted. AutoFill includes saved website logins, not unfinished drafts. It requires biometric authentication.

Remove your information

Use the delete-vault control in Settings and disable AutoFill before uninstalling if you want to remove app-managed keys and the shared AutoFill copy. Separately delete files you exported, copies held by recipients and backups stored elsewhere. Disabling inclusion in future device backups does not erase older Apple backups.

There is no server-side app account to delete. To request deletion of support correspondence, email us; see the privacy policy.

Purchases and refunds

App Store purchase history and refund requests are handled through Apple. See Apple's refund guidance. Contact us about technical problems or a complaint about the app. Your statutory consumer rights are not limited by this guidance.
